1.) Action/Sports Photographer
1. Sports Advertising, Highlights, and Portraits
Sports Photography is the focus on sports and anything related or involved in its production. That can include action shots from a game of a player or a team, advertising for equipment for the sport, or portraits for the players involved.
2. Palomar College, Riverside Community College, and Mira Costa offer associate degrees and certificates of achievement. Palomar College seems to have more variety of specific types of photography though. UCSD, University of California of Sacramento and Santa Monica College offer courses in which you can earn your Masters and Bachelors Photography. Mark Holmes Photography and DSLRclasses.com offer hands on workshops for classes up to 10 students for low prices from $75 to $300. A couple of simple workshops can help you influence your everyday photos as the quality of education is the simple techniques and knowing your camera. A community college can help you with the starting of an actual career in photography because the quality of education is greater, but so is the price around a couple of thousand. A career study in a big college can be quiet expensive around the $20,000 range, but the quality is stupendous and will make you a great photographer combined with the right amount of effort.
3. If I were to own my own equipment for photography, my dream shopping cart would consist firstly of a EOS 7D Mark II, a camera from Canon that shoots in 20.2 mega pixels and that has a capability of EF and EF-S Lenses making the lens switching that much easier. I would have a set of 2 lenses for the sports photography. The first one would be a Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM super telephoto lens. This lens would be for I am only allowed in the stands and I have to keep a certain distance from the players, the focal length would stay the same. The second lens would be a CanonEF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM a movable lens the I could use to focus on players when they are far away and zoom out when the players and the ball come near me. I need a tripod, specifically a Gitzo Series 2 Reporter Carbon Fiber 6X 4 Section G-Lock Tripod, it has the capacity to hold a 27 pound camera, necessary when a camera has such a large super telephoto lens. Secondly, I would need a Gitzo Series 5 6X Traveler 6-Section Monopod that would allow me to move up and down the sideline to follow the players. Finally, I would need a big SD card to hold the pictures. I would prefer a 256 GB card with 600x speed boost from Lexar. The total initial investment would be a total of $19000. Renting would be a much cheaper option to the buying of lenses. The renting of a super telephoto lens of 600mm would be $400 for 3 days, something perfect if you just need the lens for a single game and don’t have the money to buy the lens. The 400 mm lens can be rented for around $120 dollars for a week. The issue is that sooner or later, you would have to buy your own equipment.
4. My top 5 dream clients would be Nike, Adidas, FC Barcelona, Puma, and Redbull. Nike’s advertisement account belongs to Wieden + Kennedy. The Media Planning and Buying manager is Diana Hay. To work for FC Barcelona, there is no specific person to submit your portfolio, but you submit your application to [email protected] where is it processed by a group of people to become part of their staff. The advertising account for Puma belongs to JWT, a worldwide company, and the way to become part of their staff is through the email [email protected]. They do not hire freelance and only use staff. Under Armour’s advertisement account belongs to the CPB group. The person in charge of media planning is Lauren Barger and her email is[email protected], but she does not hire freelance, only staff.

6. The income for a photographer could be on both ends of the scale: a low salary and a decent annual salary. 10% of the population who are photographers earned about $36,000 per year while the other end could be in the $100,000s. Of course, if you are famous and have your own agency you could earn much more. Freelance photographers, as long as you have set yourself up properly, can a lot more than a staff photographer. The average salary of a staff is $102,000. The difference is that with staff photography, you have a fixed salary all the time, while the freelance may experience periods with lower income.
